Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for Stripe’s storage access layer and lead high-impact initiatives from strategy through delivery.
- Evolve storage abstractions and database SDKs across languages, API versions, and storage backends.
- Design interfaces and guardrails that improve data correctness, reliability, observability, and performance.
- Build SDKs, frameworks, and developer workflows that make storage infrastructure safe and discoverable for AI agents.
- Partner with senior leaders, engineers, product teams, and infrastructure teams on cross-organizational data architecture challenges.
- Mentor engineers and raise standards for technical design, execution, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 5+ years leading technical strategy and delivery for complex, cross-team engineering initiatives.
- Experience leading teams working on API design, SDKs, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries.
- Experience designing reliable distributed systems focused on data correctness, performance, and safe evolution of critical infrastructure.
- Experience designing developer infrastructure for AI or agentic workflows and defining technical direction for its use.
- Hands-on experience building infrastructure and products for internal or external customers.
- Demonstrated customer-centricity and a record of delivering simple, reliable experiences.
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, Ruby, or Python.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with MongoDB or other large-scale storage systems, shared developer platforms, observability and operational tooling, financial technology, senior-leader influence, distributed teams, incident response, and on-call rotations.
