Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, development, modernization, and delivery of enterprise mobile platforms across iOS and Android.
- Build and maintain production mobile applications, shared libraries, SDKs, design systems, authentication flows, offline capabilities, telemetry, and release infrastructure.
- Own complete mobile initiatives including technical discovery, solution design, delivery planning, execution, launch readiness, app-store coordination, and post-launch follow-through.
- Modernize legacy mobile applications toward modular, maintainable, testable, and scalable architectures.
- Establish AI-assisted engineering practices for design, coding, refactoring, testing, debugging, documentation, code review, and release readiness.
- Design and implement intelligent mobile experiences using LLMs, AI services, on-device intelligence, contextual assistance, automation, and personalization where appropriate.
- Integrate mobile applications with backend services, GraphQL services, identity providers, analytics platforms, orchestration layers, and data sources.
- Set mobile architecture standards and make tradeoffs across native development, cross-platform reuse, performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Optimize mobile applications for performance, memory, battery life, network efficiency, offline behavior, accessibility, localization, and reliability.
- Partner with QA and DevOps/SRE teams on automated testing, build signing, release automation, observability, crash reporting, and safe deployments.
- Own release quality across TestFlight, Google Play testing tracks, the App Store, and Google Play production releases.
- Mentor mobile engineers through pairing, code reviews, architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
- Participate across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, production support, incident response, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant hands-on mobile engineering experience.
- Proven experience owning and delivering large, complex mobile applications or mobile platform capabilities.
- Demonstrated success modernizing legacy mobile applications, architectures, and delivery practices.
- Hands-on experience building and shipping iOS and Android applications with strong cross-platform mobile development experience.
- Expert-level mobile engineering experience across iOS and Android, including strong proficiency with Swift and Kotlin.
- Experience with iOS platform development, Apple platform conventions, app lifecycle, concurrency, networking, persistence, testing, and App Store release practices.
- Experience with Android platform development, Android architecture, Jetpack, coroutines, networking, persistence, testing, and Google Play release practices.
- Hands-on experience with cross-platform technologies such as React Native, Flutter, Kotlin Multiplatform, .NET MAUI, or equivalent frameworks.
- Deep understanding of MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modular architecture, dependency injection, and design-system integration.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with GraphQL, identity providers, telemetry, crash reporting, analytics, feature flags, and remote configuration.
- Experience applying AI-assisted development tools and AI-driven engineering practices, including working knowledge of LLM-powered product experiences and responsible AI guardrails.
- Strong understanding of mobile security, secure storage, authentication, authorization, privacy, encryption, certificate pinning, OWASP Mobile risks, and compliance-aware engineering.
- Experience with unit testing, UI automation, integration testing, contract testing, snapshot testing, and regression automation.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD, build automation, signing, provisioning, release tracks, app-store submission, observability, and production monitoring.
- Comfort working with cloud environments and backend integration patterns across AWS and/or Azure.
- Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
- Strong understanding of production-quality code, performance tuning, reliability engineering, accessibility, and user-centered mobile design.
- History of hands-on technical leadership across teams or mobile domains and a strong track record of mentoring and developing engineers.
- Ability to independently lead complete projects, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, manage technical risks, and drive execution through delivery.
- Preferred experience includes large-scale cross-platform frameworks, shared mobile platform libraries, offline-first applications, synchronization, conflict resolution, mobile observability, AI-powered mobile features, regulated applications, event streaming, messaging, real-time workflows, and Agile/Scrum environments.
