Base Salary
$162k - $227k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead projects end to end and contribute to platform initiatives supporting R&D, operational excellence, and business intelligence.
- Partner with engineers, scientists, product managers, and business teams to identify opportunities and build common solutions.
- Integrate open-source, enterprise, and SaaS technologies into the platform stack.
- Design and ship platform architecture supporting multi-tenancy, fine-grained data governance, workload isolation, and scaling.
- Grow data lakehouse platforms and enable governed data products for analytical and operational use cases.
- Improve the Research Platform for experimentation, ML Ops, data processing, and analysis.
- Shape data modeling, context engineering, and emerging semantic-layer practices.
- Promote a product mindset focused on developer effectiveness and platform usability.
- Explore AI-assisted and agentic workflows and share learnings across the organization.
- Participate in system design, code reviews, and pairing while supporting platform users and troubleshooting critical issues.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building and operating highly reliable production software systems, preferably in platform engineering or a similar environment.
- Proficiency with Python and experience with at least one other high-level programming language.
- Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, including networking and containerization.
- Hands-on experience operating cloud services, storage, and compute with infrastructure as code using at least one major cloud provider, preferably Azure or GCP.
- Operational experience managing and optimizing large Kubernetes clusters, including single- or multi-cluster environments with thousands of nodes.
- Experience with reliability, observability, performance tuning, and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, cross-functional collaboration, and tradeoff navigation.
- BS or higher in computer science or a related technical field, or comparable experience.
- Preferred experience includes columnar data processing, open lakehouse technologies and table formats, supporting researchers or AI/ML teams, Flyte or other workflow orchestrators, infrastructure and policies as code, Microsoft Azure production systems, and open-source contribution and maintenance.
