Responsibilities

  • Own technical strategy for the infrastructure of a key product area or platform.
  • Lead technical direction, architectural decisions, and strategic initiatives across feature teams, systems, and multiple engineering teams.
  • Define engineering roadmaps, standards, coding practices, architectural patterns, and development procedures.
  • Design and implement internal developer platform capabilities, including golden paths, service templates, and self-service features.
  • Continue making significant hands-on contributions through coding, system design, infrastructure implementation, architecture reviews, and complex technical problem-solving.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, maintainability, technical quality, and consistency across teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response as a senior technical leader.
  • Mentor engineers, support career development, lead technical reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, design leads, executives, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical strategy and execution plans.
  • Create technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing through tech talks and training.
  • Participate in interviewing new team members and cross-functional team meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in platform, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise architecting and implementing large-scale systems.
  • Proven technical leadership and experience influencing multiple teams.
  • Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and platform practices.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to balance technical and business priorities.
  • Experience defining technical strategy and driving adoption across teams.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: experience leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams and defining technical strategy and roadmaps for complex systems.
  • Preferred: multiple advanced certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
  • Preferred: background in building engineering culture and best practices, working with product management and executive leadership, or contributing to open-source projects and industry thought leadership.
