Responsibilities
- Own technical strategy for the infrastructure of a key product area or platform.
- Lead technical direction, architectural decisions, and strategic initiatives across feature teams, systems, and multiple engineering teams.
- Define engineering roadmaps, standards, coding practices, architectural patterns, and development procedures.
- Design and implement internal developer platform capabilities, including golden paths, service templates, and self-service features.
- Continue making significant hands-on contributions through coding, system design, infrastructure implementation, architecture reviews, and complex technical problem-solving.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, maintainability, technical quality, and consistency across teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response as a senior technical leader.
- Mentor engineers, support career development, lead technical reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, design leads, executives, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical strategy and execution plans.
- Create technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing through tech talks and training.
- Participate in interviewing new team members and cross-functional team meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in platform, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise architecting and implementing large-scale systems.
- Proven technical leadership and experience influencing multiple teams.
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and platform practices.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to balance technical and business priorities.
- Experience defining technical strategy and driving adoption across teams.
- Preferred: master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams and defining technical strategy and roadmaps for complex systems.
- Preferred: multiple advanced certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
- Preferred: background in building engineering culture and best practices, working with product management and executive leadership, or contributing to open-source projects and industry thought leadership.
