Responsibilities

  • Design and develop real-time embedded software for next-generation industrial controller products.
  • Contribute across all phases of development from product definition through production release.
  • Develop board support packages, device drivers, middleware, application firmware, and real-time multithreaded or multiprocess software.
  • Perform hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, performance optimization, debugging, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Implement and validate industrial communication protocol stacks in embedded firmware and control applications.
  • Work with hardware, system test, product management, firmware, and product engineering teams in global Scrum environments.
  • Use pair programming, code reviews, automated build and test frameworks, and continuous integration practices.
  • Analyze boot architectures, startup sequences, firmware upgrades, secure boot, system recovery, and real-time system performance.
  • Break down development work, estimate tasks, identify technical challenges, and drive solutions through completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8–15 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors or controllers.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ for high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical embedded software.
  • Hands-on experience with board support packages, device drivers, middleware, and application firmware on VxWorks and Embedded Linux.
  • Experience with hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, performance optimization, boot architectures, startup sequences, firmware upgrades, and recovery processes.
  • Experience with U-Boot, GRUB, MLO, secure boot, Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
  • Experience designing real-time embedded software with multithreaded and multiprocess architectures under VxWorks or other commercial RTOS environments.
  • Understanding and implementation experience with EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, and DNP3.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, network diagnostics, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, JTAG or boundary-scan tools, hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral specifications.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, continuous integration and deployment, automated build and test frameworks, and Git or SVN.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation standards, reliability requirements, and firmware quality processes for mission-critical control systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, communication, collaboration, organization, and ownership skills.
  • Preferred: experience with programmable logic controllers, Xilinx Ultrascale SOC firmware development, and Python scripting.
