Responsibilities
- Architect scalable machine learning solutions for merchant delivery zone optimization.
- Develop, evaluate, and refine machine learning models balancing conversion, order volume, and fulfillment efficiency.
- Build, deploy, and operate scalable inference pipelines, feature stores, model-serving infrastructure, and automated retraining workflows.
- Lead data-driven investigations, online A/B testing, and telemetry analysis to improve marketplace metrics.
- Partner with Product Management, Data Science, Operations, and Core Infrastructure teams on technical roadmaps and ML standards.
- Drive cross-functional technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and deliver multi-phase engineering projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on professional experience designing, training, and operating production ML models at scale.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and mainstream machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.
- Strong foundation in machine learning algorithms including gradient-boosted trees, deep neural networks, and statistical modeling.
- Experience taking complex ML systems from problem formulation and offline validation through large-scale production deployment.
- Experience with automated feature engineering pipelines, feature stores, model monitoring platforms, and controlled online A/B testing.
- Preferred: PhD candidacy and 3+ years of industry experience.
- Preferred: experience with geospatial libraries such as H3 and S2 Cell.
- Preferred: experience with Graph Neural Networks or deep learning recommendation systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with distributed data processing systems such as Spark, Ray, and Flink and with two-sided marketplace optimization.

- Base salary is listed for San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California roles at USD $202,000-$224,000 per year.
