Responsibilities
- Define and implement the technical documentation strategy for CNN Digital.
- Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation for technical processes, software, systems, and architectures.
- Collaborate with full-stack teams, designers, program managers, and other stakeholders to capture processes, context, and decisions.
- Develop onboarding resources for engineers, designers, program managers, and end users.
- Document internal tools, editorial workflows, and consumer-facing platforms such as CNN.com.
- Engage proactively with distributed teams across organizations to gather information and improve collaboration.
- Contribute to software development using JavaScript, Java, and Python when needed.
- Read and interpret other programming languages to understand and document projects and workstreams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience focused on scalable systems.
- Hands-on technical writing experience documenting software, systems, and architectures.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Java, and Python.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally.
- Ability to work independently across dispersed, multi-locale teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with Markdown, Confluence, or GitHub Wiki is preferred.
