Responsibilities
- Help define and implement CNN Digital’s technical documentation strategy.
- Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation for technical systems and processes.
- Collaborate with full-stack teams, designers, program managers, and stakeholders to document workflows, context, and decisions.
- Develop onboarding resources for engineers, designers, program managers, and end users.
- Simplify technical processes for internal tools, editorial workflows, and CNN.com consumer-facing platforms.
- Proactively gather information across distributed teams and serve as a trusted technical documentation resource.
- Contribute to software development using JavaScript, Java, and Python when needed.
- Read and interpret other programming languages to understand and document projects and workstreams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience focused on scalable systems.
- Hands-on technical writing experience documenting software, system architectures, and systems.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Java, and Python, with the ability to work with other languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently across dispersed, multi-locale teams with minimal oversight.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, project prioritization, and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with Markdown, Confluence, or GitHub Wiki is preferred.
