Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop BIOS, BSP, and diagnostics for Cisco Core and Edge routing products.
  • Design, develop, and test device drivers for FPGA and high-speed networking peripherals.
  • Develop and execute software test plans and validate embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug prototypes and conduct board bring-up and validation.
  • Drive software, hardware, and technology solutions for Cisco’s product portfolio.
  • Provide complex technical consultation and guide internal and external stakeholders.
  • Shape technology and industry trends for large-scale, high-bandwidth networking systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a proven track record, or a master’s degree with 12+ years of experience.
  • Current experience programming in C, C++, and Python for embedded systems.
  • Experience with hardware and device-driver development, Linux hardware bring-up, multithreading, event handling, and state-machine implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with Sonic, ONIE, BMC, IPMI, and/or Redfish.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and validating embedded systems using I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and GPIO.
  • Preferred experience with GDB and KGDB kernel-debugging tools.
  • Preferred experience leading board bring-up, embedded-system validation, and debugging.
  • Preferred experience troubleshooting defects from kernel modules through applications and developing software from concept through delivery.
  • Preferred experience with collaborative system design, specification writing, and requirements review.
  • Preferred AI/ML experience and knowledge of Layer 2/3 network protocols, network processors, optical networking, secure boot, open-source tools, CMIS, and SFP/QSFP standards.
