$160k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously improve Via’s rider Android application across booking, account management, and the core rider journey.
- Architect and evolve mobile infrastructure services supporting Via’s applications.
- Make informed decisions about application architecture, performance optimization, and memory management.
- Diagnose and resolve critical production issues in live environments.
- Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver a high-quality rider application.
- Review code, share Android expertise, and mentor team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on Android development experience.
- Deep proficiency in Kotlin and strong knowledge of the Android application lifecycle, including activities, fragments, view models, and services.
- Strong understanding of Android application architecture patterns, Jetpack Compose, performance optimization, memory management, and complex debugging.
- Knowledge of concurrent programming with Kotlin Coroutines or RxJava.
- Experience with Android Location Services and Google Maps API, plus familiarity with third-party mapping tools such as Mapbox.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, take ownership, mentor engineers, and proactively identify improvements.
