Responsibilities

  • Design, build, operate, and evolve backend services and APIs for data catalog, lineage, and publishing systems.
  • Develop and run batch and streaming pipelines that process platform events and audit logs and produce metadata, lineage, and data products.
  • Translate platform-user needs into technical designs, drive projects through delivery and rollout, and own production outcomes.
  • Participate in on-call for critical services and build observability, quality checks, and automation to reduce toil.
  • Collaborate across teams and maintain high standards for correctness, performance, reliability, and backward compatibility.

Requirements

  • Solid production experience building and running backend services and APIs with Java.
  • Comfort with SQL and experience with data pipelines or a cloud data warehouse such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Hands-on experience with batch or streaming frameworks such as Beam, Flink, or Spark is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of orchestration, metadata management, data quality, governance, and lineage.
  • Ability to develop clear technical designs, reason through tradeoffs and risks, and deliver shippable solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ownership of software quality and production operations, including AI-assisted code.
