Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Serve as a Technical Lead across multiple teams in the Money Group.
- Define the north-star architectural vision for the Money Group.
- Architect the convergence of Gusto's People Stack and Finance Stack.
- Lead service migration from a Ruby-on-Rails monolith to a service-oriented architecture.
- Conduct technical due diligence on codebases and engineering teams.
- Manage a complex partner ecosystem.
- Build prototypes and proofs-of-concept to de-risk new ideas.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations.
- Drive AI-native architecture decisions.
- Act as a technical consultant across all Money sub-teams.
- Set the bar for technical excellence through code and design reviews.
- Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to team growth.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, particularly in payments or fintech.
- Proven track record of engineering and operating large production systems.
- Experience setting long-term technical vision and driving architectural transformations.
- Ability to influence technical direction and product strategy across multiple teams.
- Experience navigating core infrastructure decisions in fintech.
- Strong communication skills for conveying technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
- A history of raising the technical bar through quality and best practices.
- Flexibility to fill various roles as needed within the group.
- Experience in complex, highly regulated domains.
