Responsibilities
- Own strategy, design, and delivery for a core NIRA platform domain.
- Set technical direction, identify strategic needs, and surface risks.
- Drive large, high-stakes initiatives from design through launch.
- Promote adoption of AI development tools including Claude, Cursor, and Augment.
- Mentor engineers through Senior level and raise the technical bar in Bangalore.
- Lead SEV1 and lower-severity incident response through resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering teams and peers across NIRA, Cashalo, and US teams.
- Influence product direction through technical tradeoffs and simplify system designs.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience building web APIs, ideally using Java and Spring Boot.
- Deep experience with financial systems, including state machines and complex lifecycles.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and queue-based architectures.
- Proven experience scaling consumer products with high transaction volumes.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of initiative design, execution, and reporting.
- Ability to make fast decisions with incomplete information.
- Active mentoring experience and a commitment to raising engineering standards.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI development tools and a preference for simple designs over clever abstractions.
