Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct performance, load, stress, and soak tests across .NET Core microservices, React and React Native clients, databases, and messaging systems.
- Profile services and applications to identify CPU, memory, I/O, network, and database bottlenecks.
- Recommend and validate code-level, database-level, and infrastructure-level performance optimizations.
- Define and monitor performance budgets, SLOs, SLIs, and capacity plans, and identify regressions or approaching limits.
- Collaborate with Kubernetes and AKS teams on resource allocation, autoscaling strategies, and deployment performance.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards and monitoring using application metrics and traces.
- Document performance best practices, anti-patterns, and decision trees for engineering teams.
Requirements
- 4–8 years of experience in performance engineering, preferably with distributed, microservices-based systems.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing frameworks and tools such as JMeter, k6, Locust, or custom harnesses.
- Strong understanding of .NET Core runtime behavior, including asynchronous patterns, TPL, thread pools, garbage collection, memory allocation, and profiling.
- Proficiency with .NET profiling tools such as Perfview, dotTrace, and Application Insights, including interpreting ETW traces and metrics.
- Solid SQL Server performance knowledge, including query plans, indexing, execution-time analysis, and workload characterization.
- Familiarity with Cosmos DB performance tuning, including throughput, partitioning, consistency trade-offs, and cost modeling.
- Understanding of browser and mobile performance, including network waterfalls, rendering, JavaScript profiling, and memory leaks.
- Exposure to Kubernetes resource management, including CPU and memory requests and limits, QoS classes, and performance impact.
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Application Insights, Prometheus, and Grafana, with the ability to correlate metrics and traces.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, collaboration, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
