Base Salary
$227k - $325k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive architectural direction across multiple services and teams
- Lead the design and evolution of distributed systems for scalability, resilience, observability, and security
- Drive technical alignment across client, infrastructure, product, ads, and content organizations
- Own critical system design decisions affecting multiple platforms
- Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering standards
- Support domain leadership for Linear systems, EPG platforms, and time-based content architectures
- Support business-critical needs such as on-call coverage and live events
- Shape backend development practices, including AI-assisted coding and AI-native workflows
- Guide the use of AI for system design, performance tuning, anomaly detection, developer productivity, code quality, and observability
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
- Deep backend development expertise, preferably with Elixir and Rust or comparable languages
- Strong architectural judgment and proven cross-team technical leadership
- Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, and observability systems
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and working in high-traffic, mission-critical production environments
- Hands-on experience supporting large-scale live events with high concurrency and real-time demands
- Familiarity with Linear content systems, EPG platforms, or time-based scheduling architectures is preferred
- Deep production experience with Elixir and Rust, advanced Kubernetes experience, and experience with Pingora or Nginx are preferred
- Prior ownership of large-scale architectural transformations is preferred
