Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Go services and declarative APIs for the Data Engineering Platform.
- Establish reusable patterns for deployment, configuration, release, lifecycle management, and platform adoption.
- Drive reliability for critical production services through service-level objectives, observability, alerting, release safety, availability, and recovery.
- Improve developer experience through command-line tooling, project scaffolding, APIs, documentation, onboarding, and engineering-team feedback.
- Design durable data models, schemas, contracts, and interfaces with compatibility, migration, and evolution patterns.
- Develop reusable AI-assisted engineering workflows and patterns for building, evaluating, sharing, and maintaining skills and agents.
- Define engineering standards, evaluate emerging technologies, mentor engineers, and shape technical priorities with partner teams and customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building complex backend services and distributed systems.
- Strong programming fundamentals and a record of shipping and operating production backend services and developer-facing tools.
- Experience designing durable APIs, schemas, or developer-facing interfaces with attention to compatibility and evolution.
- Experience with CI/CD and release engineering, including environment promotion and safe rollback.
- Strong relational database fundamentals, including schema design, indexing, transactions, isolation levels, and production schema migrations.
- Solid distributed systems fundamentals, including reliability, consistency, failure modes, and operational tradeoffs.
- Experience operating production services, including observability, on-call, incident response, and post-incident improvement.
- Experience with infrastructure, developer platforms, developer-facing systems, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, configuration-as-code, CLI tools, observability, relational databases, artifact distribution, or AI-assisted development workflows is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes Terraform or OpenTofu; Open Policy Agent, Rego, PKL, CUE, or Jsonnet; OpenTelemetry; PostgreSQL or CockroachDB; and collaboration with privacy and security teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication, cross-team collaboration, and developer empathy are required.
