Responsibilities
- Build and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into coding, testing, deployments, defect triage, and engineering workflows.
- Develop observability for AI-assisted pipelines and track metrics including cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, and delivery turnaround.
- Identify manual coding, testing, and release activities suitable for automation and help make them largely unattended.
- Integrate and safely roll out LLM-based developer tools such as Claude Code with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab environments.
- Work with testing, product management, security, and compliance teams to support AI-assisted testing, responsible AI use, and regulatory data-handling requirements.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and help drive ongoing adoption of AI tooling across the team.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Software Engineer with strong technical judgment on production systems.
- Hands-on expertise in Java or a comparable backend service ecosystem.
- Strong fluency in test-driven development and pair programming.
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting features or systems in production.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for aggressive automation and removing manual engineering steps.
- Some experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in a real engineering environment.
- Preferred experience with MCP, agentic tooling, or Spec Driven Development.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira and Confluence, and its APIs.
- Experience in financial services, trading platforms, or another regulated, high-reliability environment is preferred.
