Responsibilities
- Operate and improve AWS infrastructure across multi-account compute, container, networking, database, and identity environments using infrastructure as code.
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, including reusable workflows, composite actions, OIDC-based deployment roles, and legacy-pipeline migrations.
- Instrument service level indicators and objectives and improve Datadog dashboards, alerting, log pipelines, and APM coverage.
- Participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation, restore service during incidents, contribute to blameless postmortems, and complete follow-up work.
- Remediate findings from Tenable, CrowdStrike, and AWS Security Hub and manage monthly patching and vulnerability work through production deployment.
- Automate access provisioning, credential rotation, patch cycles, environment setup and teardown, and other recurring operational work.
- Support product teams with environment builds, deployment troubleshooting, cost and performance questions, and infrastructure guidance.
- Write and maintain runbooks, architecture notes, and self-service documentation.
- Use and evaluate AI-assisted development and triage tooling to reduce operational toil.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience.
- Non-traditional backgrounds such as bootcamps, military technical training, internal transfers, and self-taught candidates with demonstrable portfolios are considered.
- At least 2 years of software engineering, IT operations, or infrastructure experience is preferred; internships, service desk, or systems administration experience with demonstrated automation work counts.
- Proficiency in at least one team language: PowerShell, Python, TypeScript, or C#/.NET.
- Working knowledge of a public cloud, preferably AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
- Infrastructure as code experience or strong demonstrated interest in AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform, along with Git workflows, pull requests, and code review.
- Familiarity with containers and serverless patterns including ECS/Fargate, ECR, and Lambda, and with managed relational databases such as RDS.
- Exposure to Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent observability tooling and an understanding of measurable systems.
- Understanding of network and security principles including least-privilege IAM, secrets handling, CIS, and OWASP.
- Clear written communication and willingness to participate in the full 24/7 on-call rotation and occasional scheduled maintenance windows.
