Base Salary

$142k - $199k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain machine learning algorithms for personalization, recommendations, and predictive systems.
  • Lead recommendation and personalization algorithm research, development, deployment, and production maintenance.
  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines with orchestration tools such as Airflow and Jenkins.
  • Deploy scalable streaming and batch data pipelines supporting petabyte-scale datasets.
  • Establish and maintain standards for algorithm development, testing, and deployment.
  • Identify personalization opportunities and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, business, and Editorial stakeholders.
  • Help set the roadmap for algorithmic personalization and recommendation initiatives.
  • Explain methodologies to both technical and non-technical teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience developing machine learning models, performing large-scale data analysis, and/or doing data engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience writing production-level, scalable Python and SQL code.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing algorithms for production deployment.
  • In-depth understanding of modern machine learning, including deep learning methods, models, and mathematical foundations.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining pipelines and engineering big-data solutions with technologies such as Databricks, S3, and Spark.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Preferred: MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Preferred: production experience developing content recommendation algorithms at scale.
  • Preferred: experience building full-stack ML pipelines covering data extraction, data mining, model training, feature development, testing, and deployment.
  • Preferred: familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, data governance, and cloud-hosted database querying.
  • Preferred: experience with AWS and Databricks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
