Base Salary
$212k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, reliable distributed services using Python and FastAPI.
- Own technical leadership within the team’s domain and improve system performance and reliability.
- Drive testing, monitoring, observability, and performance optimization practices.
- Define technical roadmaps and translate complex problem spaces into project plans and deliverables.
- Mentor engineers across levels and foster engineering growth and collaboration.
- Lead cross-functional technical efforts with product managers, designers, and adjacent engineering teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations for production systems.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership experience.
- Experience architecting, designing, and building scalable web applications and distributed systems.
- Proficiency with Python, relational databases, and frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
- Hands-on experience with metrics instrumentation and data-driven performance tuning using load-testing infrastructure and Datadog.
- Track record of scaling complex, data-intensive backend systems through rapid growth while maintaining performance and availability.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, communication patterns, and service boundaries.
- Strong ownership and ability to break down complex problems into technical roadmaps.
- Ability to mentor engineers, foster collaboration, and set technical direction.
- Bonus: experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries.
- Bonus: experience decoupling monolithic applications into distributed asynchronous services.
