Base Salary
$300k - $320k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the long-term vision, target architecture, and phased roadmap for a governed multi-tenant data platform.
- Define standards for schema governance, data contracts, tenant isolation, and self-service data access.
- Architect real-time data replication, streaming, integration, and eventual bidirectional data pathways.
- Design layered ingestion, transformation, storage, serving, and unified synchronous and asynchronous access capabilities.
- Enable operational, analytical, machine-learning, and generative-AI applications to consume the platform through standard integration paths.
- Establish observability, lineage, data-quality, cost-visibility, quota, audit, authorization, and compliance controls.
- Modernize adjacent search, logging, and observability infrastructure while optimizing cost at scale.
- Run benchmark-backed build-versus-buy evaluations and present recommendations to executive and security stakeholders.
- Set organization-wide technical direction, build consensus across teams, and mentor senior and principal engineers.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience as a Distinguished Engineer in distributed systems and data engineering, with organization-wide, multi-year architecture leadership.
- Deep hands-on expertise with distributed database engines supporting mixed transactional and analytical workloads at scale.
- Proven experience architecting large-scale real-time data replication and streaming pipelines, including schema evolution, delivery guarantees, and multi-consumer fan-out.
- Strong experience with multi-tenant SaaS data architecture, tenant isolation, per-tenant routing, and governed self-service access.
- Experience modernizing large-scale data infrastructure such as search, logging, or observability systems, including cost optimization.
- Track record of rigorous, benchmark-backed build-versus-buy evaluations and executive- and security-stakeholder communication.
- Ability to operate across multiple cloud providers and connect platform decisions to cost and compliance outcomes.
