Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of Rune’s Valhalla-based routing layer.
- Extend routing capabilities with multi-modal transport routing, time-dependent cost modeling, and integrations with weather, terrain, and road-availability data.
- Expose routing functionality through APIs and integrate it into TyrOS workflows.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Triage and debug routing issues in production to support reliability and rapid iteration.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and military stakeholders on sustainment requirements.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of software engineering experience focused on routing, navigation, or transportation systems.
- Hands-on experience building or extending a routing engine such as Valhalla, OSRM, GraphHopper, or an equivalent.
- Proficiency in C++ or Rust as a primary programming language.
- Ability to independently design, implement, debug, and iterate on a technical layer.
- Experience with Valhalla is desired.
- Experience with multi-modal transport routing across ground, air, or maritime modes is desired.
- Prior experience at a logistics, mapping, or supply chain technology company is desired.
- Experience deploying production software using cloud and edge infrastructure is desired.
- Familiarity with OpenStreetMap data pipelines, PostGIS, or tile server infrastructure such as Martin is desired.
