Staff Software Engineer- AI/ML
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Lead enterprise full-stack and AI platform architecture across multiple initiatives.
- Identify and deliver reusable AI components for forward-deployed engineers.
- Design and ship resilient microservices and REST APIs.
- Build RAG and multimodal LLM features.
- Design agentic workflows for autonomous tasks.
- Make end-to-end technical decisions balancing reliability, performance, and cloud cost.
- Mentor engineers and provide guidance to contractors, partners, and vendors.
- Drive AI and ML engagement across at least five projects.
- Provide technical oversight, code reviews, and quality assurance guidance.
- Partner with globally distributed teams to accelerate adoption of AI in software services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, including Python, Java, or Go, plus JavaScript or TypeScript front-end experience.
- Proven track record shipping production applications incorporating LLMs or AI services at scale.
- Experience leading technical teams and guiding external contractors or vendors.
- Experience with AI/ML architectural design, technical leadership, or system optimization.
- Strong experience with AWS or Azure and advanced containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with technical oversight, code review processes, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Experience with SOAP, REST, or MuleSoft integration frameworks and advanced state management is preferred.
- Experience with vector databases such as Milvus, Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector and embedding model optimization is preferred.
- Experience with multiple LLM providers and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex is preferred.
- Experience with enterprise RAG architectures, semantic search optimization, conversation memory management, and AI-powered features for 100,000+ users is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills with globally distributed teams.
- A master’s degree or equivalent in AI is a plus.
