Base Salary
$251k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop signals to measure the performance and driving qualities of the Waymo Driver using statistics, mathematics, physics, algorithms, and machine learning.
- Use simulation and real-world driving logs to measure driving performance.
- Design and implement methods connecting onboard software changes with simulated outcomes.
- Champion code health and best practices in a large and complex codebase.
- Analyze data and recommend improvements to metric quality and interpretability.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, statisticians, and leadership to deliver evaluation products and support data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
- 4–7 years of industry experience navigating and modifying large codebases containing languages such as C++, Python, and SQL.
- Experience performing statistical analyses and building data-processing pipelines.
- Experience writing, reviewing, and merging maintainable code following industry standards for code health.
- Strong quantitative and data fluency.
- Experience with C++ is preferred.
- Experience with machine learning is preferred.
- Experience with A/B experiment infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience building and validating quality metrics for complex systems is preferred.
- Exposure to ad-hoc data-analysis tools for rapid modeling and prototyping is preferred.
- Experience in the autonomous-vehicle industry is preferred.
