Base Salary
$163k - $204k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build products and services and scale the platform powering Gusto’s business money and accounting experiences.
- Own projects and ensure high standards of quality and performance.
- Contribute engineering expertise across product ideation, design, architecture, development, release, monitoring, and scaling.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Design, Data Science, Compliance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams on complex problems.
- Drive the product development process from concept to launch and help improve team productivity and innovation.
- Adopt AI technologies and modern AI practices across product development.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience architecting, building, and testing large-scale, resilient distributed systems and/or software platforms.
- Experience as a technical lead who has led multiple engineers on multi-quarter projects.
- Ability to communicate technical complexity, facilitate tradeoffs, collaborate cross-functionally, and bring clarity to ambiguous problems.
- Expected to maximize AI tooling and guide the team in adopting modern AI practices.
- Preferred experience includes scalable backend systems for financial services, accounting or bookkeeping systems, tax or financial reporting, and small-business accounting or tax domains.
- Ruby/Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, and AWS familiarity are preferred.
