Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 4–5 firmware developers working on a test instrument device.
- Drive technical delivery and quality across the firmware development team.
- Develop low-level firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers using C and C++.
- Design modular software abstractions and establish a platform abstraction layer for the HAL.
- Develop with FreeRTOS, including threading, synchronization, IPC, and other RTOS features.
- Implement interrupt-safe designs and use synchronization devices appropriately.
- Work with standard peripherals such as UART, ADC, and timers.
- Create automated tests and use static analysis.
- Support multiple build targets and toolchains using appropriate debuggers.
- Use Linux, Python, SCons, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Docker in the development workflow.
- Lead two-week sprint delivery and interact with clients regarding technical and delivery matters.
Requirements
- At least 10–20 years of firmware development experience.
- Experience serving as a technical lead for products using ARM Cortex-M processors.
- Experience leading teams through an Agile development process.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills and low-level microcontroller firmware experience.
- Knowledge of register manipulation, number representation, FPUs/DSP instructions, and lightweight digital signal processing.
- Experience creating modular software abstractions and platform abstraction layers for HALs.
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers and FreeRTOS.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical reference manuals, including pinouts.
- Knowledge of interrupt-safe design, synchronization, threading, and IPC.
- Experience with standard peripherals, automated unit testing, static analysis, build systems, toolchains, and debuggers.
- Experience with Python, SCons, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Docker.
- Ability to use benchtop tools including logic analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
