Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical Loki and related telemetry database systems.
- Own system reliability, performance, availability, and production operations.
- Deliver projects from ideation and requirements gathering through customer release and ongoing operations.
- Develop new features and iteratively improve them using customer feedback and results.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
- Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team’s scope.
- Participate in design discussions, mentor teammates, and collaborate in a remote team.
- Influence the product roadmap and develop a deeper understanding of the cloud product, customers, and distributed-system codebase.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, and Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar experience is transferable.
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers in a self-driven manner.
- Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Preferred experience with low-level database, storage-layer, or query-engine code.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience using Grafana or Prometheus in operational, on-call, hobby, or homelab contexts is advantageous.
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with on-call work, operations/SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code is advantageous.
- Strong communication, collaboration, customer focus, pragmatism, and self-directed working style are expected.
