Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of new platform capabilities.
- Build, support, and maintain services powering Federated GraphQL APIs, event-driven architecture, and regulatory compliance tooling.
- Drive integrations with internal services and collaborate with engineering teams and organizational stakeholders.
- Support customer-facing application teams through scoping, technical specifications, code review, design review, and performance improvements.
- Develop, scale, and optimize gRPC endpoints, GraphQL APIs, and SQL queries.
- Own monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident response practices using Datadog and Bugsnag.
- Identify systemic bottlenecks and risks and lead efforts to improve reliability and scalability.
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence across the organization.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Track record of owning complex systems end-to-end and designing distributed systems for real-world load.
- Experience working across Elixir, Java, Rust, and TypeScript codebases.
- Strong foundations in computer science, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Strong experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with caching strategies and their tradeoffs at scale.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
- Experience in high-throughput or real-time domains such as sports betting, gaming, or financial services.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with AI.
- Ability to lead technical efforts, uphold high standards for code quality and architecture, and mentor engineers.
