Principal Software Engineer - High Performance Computing

- Design and implement complex, scalable software frameworks using appropriate architecture patterns.
- Develop, review, debug, and improve secure, high-quality production code.
- Lead technical design reviews and advise cross-functional partners on domain solutions.
- Create reusable performance patterns and benchmarking approaches for model training and inference across compute architectures.
- Define and use telemetry and measurable performance indicators to guide hardware and software decisions.
- Mentor developers and enable the engineering community in high-performance computing practices intersecting with AI/ML.
- Architect and govern agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows, including AI-driven pull request review, test generation and maintenance, release readiness checks, incident triage, and root-cause acceleration.
- Define guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, auditability, traceability, sensitive-data handling, and reuse across teams.
- Apply software development lifecycle tools and enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities to improve engineering automation at scale.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
- 8+ years of experience in high-performance computing software.
- 5+ years of experience with at least one type of accelerator.
- 3+ years of experience in deep learning, particularly large language models.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced software application development knowledge with in-depth expertise in disciplines such as large language models or high-performance computing.
- Strong Python and C or C++ programming skills, plus experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams, including human-in-the-loop validation, auditability, traceability, and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations, including security, resiliency, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance.
- PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Practical cloud-native experience and hands-on CUDA experience for GPU programming and performance optimization are preferred.
- Experience in large organizations or regulated industries and strong communication and collaboration skills are preferred.
