
Staff Software Engineer (Tech Lead)

Responsibilities
- Own and evolve distributed-system architecture on GCP, including service boundaries, data models, and technology decisions across Go, Python, and TypeScript.
- Lead hands-on integration of LLMs, embeddings, speech models, prompt optimization, evaluation strategies, and AI safety practices.
- Write production code on critical paths while leading technical initiatives and guiding a small senior engineering team.
- Oversee observability, reliability, scale, event-driven ingestion, and automated QA pipelines for call transcripts and healthcare data.
- Translate technical constraints and trade-offs for Product, Design, and Clinical Operations stakeholders.
- Drive projects to completion by identifying gaps, unblocking teams, and setting technical direction.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years leading projects or serving as a Tech Lead.
- Staff-level scope or equivalent technical impact.
- Strong hands-on experience with LLMs in production environments.
- Expert-level proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript/Node, with the ability to review code across the stack.
- Deep experience with distributed systems, containerized deployments, and event-driven architectures.
- Preferred experience hosting or integrating open-source models such as vLLM or Ollama, including understanding of RAG architectures.
- Preferred background in applied machine learning or AI infrastructure.
- Preferred experience with regulated environments such as HIPAA and SOC 2, or healthcare standards including FHIR and HL7.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing RFCs and explaining technical strategy to non-technical stakeholders.
