Base Salary

$191k - $253k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Propose and prototype state-of-the-art computer vision solutions for real-world spacecraft and defense problems.
  • Develop and maintain core computer vision libraries, runtime applications, flight software, firmware, algorithms, and simulation products.
  • Integrate classical, geometric, and machine-learning computer vision methods for spacecraft perception and autonomy.
  • Work with vehicle computer vision software and hardware subsystems across spacecraft and orbital mission types.
  • Develop software-defined autonomous spacecraft operations with maneuvering capabilities.
  • Create test plans and procedures for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operational validation.
  • Collaborate with Sensors, GNC, Avionics, Systems, Flight Software, Mission Operations, and Ground Software teams.
  • Coordinate with operators, end users, and customers to translate mission needs into features.
  • Support ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit spacecraft operations.
  • Define automated fault detection and response capabilities.
  • Provide hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulation capabilities.
  • Lead implementation, validation, and computer vision operations for Anduril’s space vehicle fleet.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science with an emphasis on Computer Vision, plus a BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced professional experience developing and benchmarking machine-learning algorithms on large-scale datasets.
  • High proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with object detection, object tracking, instance segmentation, semantic segmentation, semantic change detection, or natural feature tracking.
  • Experience with visual odometry, SLAM, multi-view geometry, structure from motion, 3D geometry, discriminative correlation filters, stereo, neural 3D reconstruction, multi-band sensor processing, RGB-D, or LiDAR sensor fusion.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and detailed requirements quickly.
  • Familiarity with terminal guidance, rendezvous proximity operations and docking, orbital mechanics with propulsive spacecraft, or spacecraft and missile GNC.
  • Clear communication, documentation, organizational, and training-material skills.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance that can be maintained.
  • Preferred experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Go, OpenCV, computer vision, vision navigation, image processing, feature tracking, SLAM, and Linux systems.
  • Preferred experience testing computer vision subsystems in space-constrained laboratory environments, using FlatSats, hardware-in-the-loop testbeds, and digital spacecraft simulators.
  • Preferred experience with orbital mechanics, resident space object tracking, spacecraft operations, satellite command and control, system reliability, and GNC perception algorithms.
  • Preferred experience developing 3-DOF and 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for GNC analysis and validation.
  • Preferred exposure to U.S. satellite operations policy and constraints across relevant orbital mission threads.
