Responsibilities
- Architect and develop the core Sand Table plugin using the Carbon extensibility framework, C++, and TypeScript.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and systems engineers to extend Sand Table with new data sources, user interactions, and visual features.
- Become the subject matter expert on the Carbon extensibility layer and create robust APIs for other teams.
- Analyze the engine’s C++ foundation, identify extension points, and ensure plugin performance and stability.
- Write clean, high-performance, maintainable software that combines a real-time engine with a scripting environment.
- Diagnose and solve technical issues across the core engine, scripting layer, and artistic workflows.
- Work directly with customers to deploy the software.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with large, performance-critical codebases; C++ is required rather than C#.
- Professional experience in game engine development or a related real-time 3D simulation field.
- Solid experience with TypeScript for scripting, tooling, or application development.
- Ability to collaborate with artists and engineers across disciplines.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, extensible code and robust APIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous, open-ended technical tasks.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Direct experience with game modding communities and toolkits is preferred.
- Experience with API design and SDK development is preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D mathematics and real-time rendering concepts is preferred.
- Experience shipping a AAA game title is preferred.
