Base Salary
$250k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain a distributed object storage system supporting container images, volumes, and checkpoints.
- Develop caching, preloading, and peer-to-peer layers that reduce object-store latency and datacenter ingress.
- Own durability and cost management through streaming and batch replication across storage origins.
- Build and operate garbage collection across billions of objects and hundreds of petabytes of data.
- Work across local disks, page caches, distributed blob storage, and storage clusters deployed in datacenters.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to production incidents.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience writing high-quality production code.
- Experience building high-performance distributed storage or caching systems at large scale.
- Strong cloud skills, including deep familiarity with object storage such as S3, CDNs, and their consistency, throughput, and cost characteristics.
- Strong knowledge of low-level operating-system foundations, including the Linux kernel, file systems, page cache, and containers.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and production incident response.
- Preferred: experience with replication, content addressing, consistency models, multi-region or multi-cloud systems, petabyte-scale storage operations, large-scale garbage collection or data migration, petabyte-scale data engineering, or Rust.
