$180k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of customer-facing applications for ordering, tracking, and delivery operations.
- Own major projects across user flows, UX decisions, architecture, data models, implementation, and post-launch measurement.
- Build customer feedback loops using direct conversations, analytics, support signals, limited releases, and structured experiments.
- Establish feature flags, beta programs, phased rollouts, and other gradual-release practices.
- Raise standards for frontend UX, interaction patterns, accessibility, and product polish.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, finance, and customer-facing teams to solve high-impact user problems.
- Improve application reliability, testing, observability, and engineering practices.
- Mentor engineers and help establish product-minded technical standards across the team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of production software engineering experience, including staff-level technical scope.
- Deep full-stack experience with modern frontend development using React or a comparable framework and backend development in Go, Python, or a similar language.
- Strong record of building external customer-facing products where UX affects adoption, trust, and business outcomes.
- Demonstrated customer obsession, including direct user engagement and converting feedback into product improvements.
- Strong independent design and UX judgment without relying on a dedicated designer.
- Experience with limited releases, feature flags, beta programs, experiments, or phased rollouts.
- Experience owning architecture across teams, mentoring engineers, and leading delivery in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Experience in both a rigorous high-engineering-bar organization and a startup or scale-up environment.
- Clear, effective English communication.
- Ability to work from the US East Coast or London, UK, and travel to Africa approximately three times per year.
- Preferred experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, high-expectation external customer experiences, measurable customer or usability improvements, or healthcare, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse-management, or supply-chain products.
