Responsibilities

  • Lead full-stack development of scalable distributed systems from conceptualization through production deployment and ongoing support.
  • Set architectural direction and design performant, reliable, and maintainable systems, including data schemas, stored procedures, and query optimization.
  • Design and integrate RESTful APIs, enterprise security and identity architectures, and healthcare interoperability solutions using FHIR and HL7.
  • Establish engineering standards for Docker deployments, Git and Bitbucket collaboration, code quality, testing, documentation, and incident response.
  • Mentor Software Engineer I and II staff through code reviews, pair programming, and architectural guidance.
  • Partner with clinical, operations, and technology leadership on roadmaps, business requirements, technical solutions, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a STEM program; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience building and shipping large-scale software applications in healthcare or a regulated industry.
  • Deep proficiency in PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, React, NextJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices architectures with OAuth, SAML, or OpenID Connect.
  • Hands-on experience with FHIR and HL7; SMART on FHIR experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead on complex cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and DevOps practices including CI/CD pipeline management, infrastructure-as-code, and containerization.
  • Expert-level debugging, performance optimization, and testing experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, privacy, and data security requirements in a healthcare context; FQHC or community health organization experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent written and spoken English, and additional language fluency where required by location.
