Responsibilities
- Make sound, defensible technical and architectural decisions and explain the trade-offs.
- Design and operate systems for scale, reliability, performance, auditability, and controls in a regulated banking environment.
- Connect technical choices to business outcomes and appropriately size solutions.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across teams.
- Advance initiatives across multiple teams without formal authority.
- Set standards for practical, everyday use of AI in the engineering domain.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating systems with significant reliability and performance demands at scale.
- Strong experience ideally in Java, JavaScript, or Python environments.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs, explain decisions and alternatives, and optimize for business outcomes.
- Ability to communicate complex systems clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading through technical work, operating across teams, and learning from production incidents.
- Ability to contribute a capability or area of expertise that Klarna does not currently have.
