Responsibilities
- Complete assigned engineering tasks and deliver them on time.
- Design, test, debug, and document maintainable software solutions.
- Break down medium-sized features into manageable engineering tasks and coordinate their delivery with other engineers.
- Optimize game and AI logic and integrate features in collaboration with game designers and artists.
- Estimate tasks, raise blockers, participate in code reviews, and follow software development lifecycle practices.
- Coordinate with teams outside engineering to deliver features.
- Contribute to both game software and surrounding tooling.
Requirements
- A university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or relevant professional experience.
- For Japan-based candidates, 3+ years of professional software engineering experience and at least 1 year of video game industry experience.
- For overseas-based candidates, 7+ years of professional software engineering experience and at least 4 years of video game industry experience.
- Professional experience with C++ and C#, backed by Go, plus experience with multiple programming languages.
- Strong software development fundamentals, design theory, debugging ability, and development process knowledge.
- Experience with Git or another version control system.
- At least conversational Japanese proficiency at JLPT N3 or above and English proficiency sufficient for technical discussions.
- Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate in teams, manage time, learn from reviews, and contribute to technical discussions.
- Preferred: experience with Unity, Unreal, or proprietary game engines, and knowledge of 2D and 3D mathematics.
