Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and continuously improve QA activities for data-intensive environments.
- Perform end-to-end ETL, data workflow, Big Data, functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
- Validate data extraction, transformation, loading, reconciliation, completeness, consistency, accuracy, and business rules.
- Use advanced SQL to analyze source-to-target mappings, transformations, discrepancies, and data quality defects.
- Develop and maintain reusable test automation utilities and frameworks using Python, PySpark, and Pandas where appropriate.
- Test Azure-based data platforms, pipelines, processing solutions, service integrations, APIs, and cross-system data exchange.
- Manage the complete defect lifecycle, including documentation, root-cause analysis, prioritization, fix verification, and closure.
- Coordinate with developers, data engineers, architects, analysts, product owners, business users, and project and program management.
- Report test progress, results, quality metrics, risks, dependencies, blockers, and outstanding defects.
- Identify quality risks, monitor mitigation measures, support quality governance, and promote continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Several years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer, Data QA Engineer, Data Test Engineer, ETL Test Engineer, or similar.
- Demonstrable ETL testing and Big Data testing experience.
- Strong experience with manual testing and the complete end-to-end testing lifecycle.
- Experience validating BI and reporting outputs, data quality, and data reconciliation.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and strong knowledge of ETL frameworks and processes.
- Hands-on experience with Python, PySpark, Pandas, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure DevOps, and Postman.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, ownership, accountability, and risk mitigation skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical findings in understandable business terms and independently lead QA activities.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-driven testing and intelligent test automation is preferred.
