Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and support of business-critical software applications, integrations, APIs, automation, and data solutions.
- Translate business requirements into secure, scalable technical designs and document architecture decisions, data flows, dependencies, and implementation tradeoffs.
- Establish and govern SDLC, release governance, change-management controls, development standards, testing practices, and deployment processes.
- Lead solution and code reviews, coach developers, coordinate delivery priorities, and ensure deviations are documented and remediated.
- Design and maintain relational database schemas, stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, data models, ETL processes, and application-to-database integrations.
- Perform database administration and engineering activities including provisioning, configuration, access control, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Govern database and schema changes, validate recoverability, investigate performance and data-integrity issues, and maintain database inventories, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
- Implement data quality, reconciliation, lineage, retention, auditability, and access controls for enterprise data.
- Partner with Security, Infrastructure/Operations, QA, Enterprise Architecture, business owners, data owners, and vendors.
- Lead root-cause analysis for application, database, integration, and release incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and report delivery, quality, reliability, availability, backup, capacity, and recovery metrics.
- Provide technical leadership for modernization, application rationalization, cloud or managed-platform adoption, and technical-debt reduction.
- Provide occasional on-call or escalation support for critical application, integration, database, or deployment issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in software development, application delivery, database engineering or administration, systems integration, or a closely related discipline.
- Advanced application programming knowledge in one or more enterprise development languages and strong proficiency with SQL.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, integrations, object-oriented design, source control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development practices.
- Strong working knowledge of relational database administration and engineering, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, security, backup and recovery, high availability, monitoring, and controlled schema deployment.
- Experience creating, leading, and improving SDLC, release governance, and IT change-management processes in an auditable operating environment.
- Experience leading technical designs, complex application changes, database solutions, production releases, and cross-functional delivery activities.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications and databases where availability, security, data integrity, auditability, and recovery are essential.
- Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor team members, manage multiple priorities, communicate tradeoffs, and convert business needs into measurable technical outcomes.
- Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, ETL, data governance, cloud platforms, and manufacturing or enterprise application environments is preferred.
- A master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience is preferred.
