Base Salary
$160k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support a petabyte-scale, highly parallel, fault-tolerant cloud database.
- Build reliable software for large enterprise customers.
- Analyze and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks.
- Identify problems, instrument relevant system components, and implement solutions.
- Design and implement query optimization and distributed data processing algorithms.
- Design and implement service architecture for the Snowflake Data Cloud.
- Develop tools that improve customers’ insight into their workloads.
- Follow confidentiality and data security standards for handling sensitive customer data.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of industry experience working on commercial or open-source software.
- Fluency in Java or C++.
- Familiarity with development in a Linux environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Systems programming experience with multithreading and concurrency.
- Experience with implementation testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work on-site in the Menlo Park, Bellevue, or Berlin office.
- Master’s or PhD preferred.
- Experience with SQL or database technologies, query optimization, query execution, or compiler design is a bonus.
- Experience with FoundationDB, RocksDB, InnoDB, BerkeleyDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, Cassandra, columnar databases, database replication, or large-scale distributed systems is a bonus.
