Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated Python test cases and suites for Roku TV firmware and features.
- Own automation reliability by investigating flaky or broken tests and isolating script, infrastructure, firmware, and product failures.
- Triage partner and internal NPI automation failures, reproduce issues, determine root causes, and fix scripts or route defects with clear evidence.
- Convert manual NPI test cases into automated coverage for hardware-dependent scenarios involving remotes, relays, cameras, and audio capture.
- Integrate and maintain tests in CI/CD across multiple TV platforms while keeping suites fast and trustworthy.
- Review peer automation code and maintain standards for structure, verification, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with firmware, platform, partner engineering, and NPI teams across Taiwan, China, and the US.
- Use AI coding agents to develop, debug, and triage automation against real devices, validating every result on hardware.
- Identify and share AI-assisted workflows that reduce test-development, triage, or debugging time.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on Python test automation experience using Pytest, unittest, BDD, or a similar framework.
- Strong debugging and flaky-test investigation skills.
- Experience with embedded or connected systems, Git, CI/CD, and test strategy.
- Ability to use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Codex to create, update, and debug automated tests.
- Ability to validate AI-generated tests on real hardware and identify issues such as incorrect APIs, weak checks, false passes, mocked paths, and fixed waits.
- Ability to follow AI workflow guardrails and explain how AI-assisted automation results were verified.
- Hardware-in-the-loop experience, framework design, OEM or SoC partner experience, and LLM guardrails knowledge are preferred.
