Base Salary
$99k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and release native Android applications for flagship Washington Post apps.
- Own native ad format development, RTB and header-bidding integration, and ad measurement on Android.
- Research and implement native advertising patterns such as in-feed cards, native video units, and sponsored content.
- Build and maintain measurement pipelines for ad viewability, click-through rates, and latency.
- Advise advertising partners on Android privacy standards, Privacy Sandbox, advertising ID policies, and platform capabilities.
- Integrate and maintain third-party SDKs and collaborate with cross-functional teams on API contracts and new features.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving ad display latency, battery usage, app stability, and fragmented Android devices.
- Participate in software development practices, peer and code reviews, unit testing, and technical solution design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with the Android SDK.
- Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin, including code optimization and application performance.
- Experience releasing one or more applications to Google Play Store and/or Amazon Appstore.
- Experience implementing, optimizing, and maintaining mobile advertising frameworks and SDKs in native Android applications.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, analytical and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of testing and quality assurance practices.
- Familiarity with Git, pull requests, version control, Agile/Scrum, RESTful services, and server-side principles.
- Experience using AI tools and automated platforms to improve engineering productivity is expected.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and ability to deliver quality solutions within established timelines.
