Sr JavaScript Engineer
Northwestern MutualResponsibilities
- Build and modernize advisor-facing digital features as part of a complete product redesign.
- Lead a small team of passionate engineers through the initial mission.
- Develop frontend applications using JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Create and maintain automated unit, functional, and integration tests to support continuous delivery.
- Use build tools, CSS frameworks, CSS precompilers, and version control systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to create digital experiences for clients and advisors.
- Optimize systems and continuously improve development practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional JavaScript experience.
- Strong experience with one or more modern JavaScript frameworks, including React, Angular, Backbone, React Native, or Node.
- Knowledge of JavaScript unit, functional, and integration testing tools such as JSHint, CSSLint, PhantomJS, Jasmine, Karma, Mocha, Chai, or Tape.
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing to support continuous delivery.
- Experience with build tools such as Grunt, Gulp, or Webpack.
- Familiarity with frontend CSS frameworks such as Foundation or Bootstrap and CSS precompilers such as Sass or Less.
- Experience with version control systems including Git and GitHub.
- Awareness of current trends, best practices, and web standards.
- A bachelor's degree is desired, along with 6–8 years of employment experience.
