Responsibilities

  • Support development and enhancement of scalable data and AI platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to software engineering activities using Python.
  • Assist with platform growth, performance, reliability, and operational improvement needs.
  • Work with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts to support data workloads.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers and partner teams to understand technical requirements.
  • Research tools, patterns, and practices supporting platform scalability.
  • Document technical solutions, workflows, and project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Be able to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be self-motivated, organized, willing to take initiative, and willing to learn.
  • Be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027, from May through August 2027, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location and interested in working for Corning after graduation if offered a full-time opportunity.
  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Python, familiarity with Apache Spark, big data platforms, or distributed computing, understanding of software engineering fundamentals and data structures, and interest in platform engineering, cloud technologies, data engineering, analytics, or AI infrastructure.
