Responsibilities
- Participate in team discussions, technical decisions, and the engineering design process.
- Write, test, and document software for production use by Stripe teams and users.
- Give and receive feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners and incorporate feedback.
- Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and guidance from managers, mentors, teammates, and subject matter experts.
- Communicate work status, risks, open questions, and requests for help clearly.
- Use AI development tools thoughtfully while reviewing, refining, testing, and validating their outputs.
Requirements
- Be currently enrolled in high school or graduating from high school before the internship begins.
- Work full-time and in person from Stripe’s San Francisco or Seattle office for 12 consecutive weeks during a mutually agreed period between May and August 2027.
- Have programming experience through projects, research, coursework, competitions, open source, a startup, or another setting.
- Demonstrate exceptional technical achievement through work such as a product, system, open source contribution, original research, startup work, competition performance, or comparable experience.
- Explain individual contributions, technical decisions, tradeoffs, testing, feedback, and potential improvements for submitted work.
- Have experience collaborating with others on a technical project and incorporating feedback.
- Be able to learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and work with mentors or subject matter experts.
- Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication.
- Meet employment eligibility, minimum age, and documentation requirements for the role’s location by the internship start date.
- Preferred qualifications include deeper knowledge in areas such as frontend, backend, infrastructure, data, machine learning, security, or developer tools; experience with pull requests, tests, documentation, or design notes; familiarity with unfamiliar codebases or multi-person projects; sustained technical work; and curiosity about business and software.
