Responsibilities
- Define and track quality metrics including defect escape rate, automated coverage, and release risk score.
- Design and drive a built-in quality strategy using approaches such as shift-left testing, contract testing, and synthetic monitoring.
- Own the ticketing pipeline, triage customer-facing issues, identify trends, and escalate critical issues.
- Evaluate and drive adoption of AI-assisted tools for test case generation, defect triage, and log analysis.
- Audit and expand unit, integration, API, and end-to-end automated test coverage based on risk and usage data.
- Automate production testing practices such as canary releases, synthetic transactions, and production error-rate dashboards.
- Lead user acceptance and staging sign-off for major releases.
- Run knowledge-sharing sessions, pairing, and test-plan reviews across engineering teams.
- Help establish asynchronous, ongoing quality practices embedded in the development process.
- Collaborate with external partners on KAYAK4Business application innovation and expansion.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with quality metrics and holistic product-quality evaluation.
- Solid knowledge of version control, APIs, large-scale web applications, and software delivery practices.
- Experience applying AI tools to test planning, issue triage, automation, or other quality workflows.
- Ability to lead quality-focused projects spanning multiple teams or a broader engineering organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, initiative, and ownership.
- Hands-on experience with modern issue-tracking software such as Atlassian and with logging or observability platforms.
- Background in computer science or a related technical field through a degree, bootcamp, self-directed study, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with release and off-cycle management processes is a plus.
- Quality leadership in vendor management, crowd testing, accessibility, or API testing is advantageous.
- Technical travel experience with Global Distribution Systems, globally distributed team experience, mobile app testing experience, efficient use of AI in quality practices, and ISTQB certification are advantageous.
