Responsibilities
- Specify, design, and develop firmware for solid-state circuit breakers, hybrid protection systems, Fault Managed Power Systems, and advanced power conversion products.
- Own the product development lifecycle from concept and architecture through requirements, documentation, implementation, validation, certification, and commercialization.
- Design and implement protection, sensing, fault detection, interruption, current limiting, communication, and control functions using simulation and modeling.
- Develop algorithms for analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics with emphasis on reliability, validation, manufacturability, and EMC performance.
- Collaborate across electronics, software, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and certification teams.
- Contribute to patents, technical publications, invention disclosures, and industry standards activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of firmware or software product development experience.
- Experience taking products from innovation through commercialization in regulated or safety-critical markets.
- Strong proficiency in C or C++ for microcontroller-based and real-time embedded software architectures and systems.
- Experience with software configuration management, formal change control, software requirements, architecture documentation, detailed designs, and traceability artifacts.
- Experience with embedded development and debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, and version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Experience with real-time control systems, hardware interfaces, and UART, SPI, I²C, and CAN communication protocols.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, MISRA-compliant software development experience, and UL 1998 certification experience, particularly for protection systems or power electronic devices.
- Ability to travel up to 10-15%.
- Technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, innovation, and hands-on laboratory problem-solving experience are expected.
