Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision and architectural strategy for the desktop client.
- Lead the design and delivery of a high-performance native application for Windows and macOS.
- Partner with product, backend, infrastructure, security, and AI/ML teams on the client experience.
- Provide technical leadership on architecture, coding standards, and native desktop development practices.
- Own the application distribution lifecycle, including signing, packaging, installation, updates, and uninstallation.
- Improve observability, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and diagnostics across the client stack.
- Lead technical deep dives, design reviews, and roadmap alignment discussions.
- Mentor engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team.
- Embed security, compliance, and OS-level integration best practices into the design.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of desktop application engineering experience shipping native applications on Windows and macOS.
- Proven experience designing and shipping client applications to large user bases.
- Strong proficiency in Rust and/or C++ and experience building cross-platform desktop applications.
- Deep knowledge of Windows and macOS operating system APIs.
- Hands-on experience with code signing, packaging, auto-update mechanisms, and deployment at scale.
- Strong understanding of desktop performance profiling, memory management, and crash diagnostics.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and leadership with clear technical direction.
- Track record of mentoring and elevating engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Tauri, React, and TypeScript is preferred.
- Experience integrating desktop clients with cloud backends through REST, WebSockets, or gRPC is preferred.
- Experience with OS hooks, accessibility APIs, inter-process communication, background processes, system tray agents, notification-driven UX, endpoint telemetry, observability SDKs, APM integration, and enterprise software distribution is preferred.
