Responsibilities
- Design and build agentic AI applications that plan tasks, use tools, manage context and memory, and adapt to results.
- Write, review, and architect production software across APIs, backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Take AI applications from prototypes through production, including automated tests, agent evaluations, controlled releases, monitoring, and ongoing support.
- Support deployment and operational readiness across Azure, Databricks, and related services in partnership with Platform engineers.
- Build privacy, security, access-control, credential-protection, human-review, and responsible AI safeguards into agent systems.
- Assess risks and test for unsafe or unreliable behavior with Security and business teams.
- Lead complex technical work, make architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and share reusable tools and practices across the Data and AI community.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a related discipline, including hands-on delivery and operation of complex production systems and agentic applications.
- Strong software architecture experience across APIs, backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Advanced Python skills and strong engineering fundamentals in automated testing, code review, version control, and maintainable design.
- Working knowledge of SQL and data access patterns.
- Practical understanding of context engineering, memory, agent evaluation, task completion, tool behavior, and failure recovery.
- Experience delivering secure cloud applications using CI/CD, containers, and observability, with knowledge of application security, privacy, Responsible AI, identity, authorization, and model-output and tool-execution risks.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through architectural guidance, pragmatic delivery planning, cross-team influence, mentoring, and reusable engineering practices.
- Experience with Azure and Databricks or comparable cloud and AI platforms is beneficial.
- Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and web application development is beneficial.
- Experience with agent SDKs, MCP integrations, and AI-assisted software development is beneficial.
