Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and operate full-stack internal web applications for business stakeholders.
- Develop production AI- and LLM-powered features, including classification, extraction, summarization, copilots, and agentic workflows.
- Own application infrastructure on GCP, including App Engine, Cloud Run, GKE, authentication, monitoring, debugging, and application security.
- Define the internal application product portfolio, determine when custom applications are appropriate, and create reusable building blocks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, analytics engineers, and data engineers on requirements, data models, and platform constraints.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production software, including meaningful experience with full-stack web applications.
- Strong Python experience with APIs, data access patterns, packaging, and testing, using FastAPI, Flask, or similar technologies.
- Experience with TypeScript and React or comparable frontend frameworks, including component design and interactive data interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with GCP application services including App Engine, Cloud Run, GKE, and IAM.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly BigQuery, including query cost awareness and application data-access-layer design.
- Production experience developing and deploying AI- and LLM-powered applications, including prompt design, structured output, evaluation, and cost and latency tradeoffs.
- Experience operating production software with logging, monitoring, error handling, debugging, observability, secure application design, and automated testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes AI-native applications, LLM provider APIs, agent frameworks, managed AI/ML platforms, dbt, Airflow, Terraform, data-heavy user interfaces, and being the first or only application engineer on a data team.
