Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize DSP algorithms for OFDM-based modems, including modulation, demodulation, synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, FFT/IFFT processing, and error detection and correction.
- Translate communication system requirements into production-quality DSP software and debug issues across DSP, firmware, RF, and hardware boundaries.
- Analyze laboratory and field data to identify performance, stability, and interoperability issues and support product bring-up, validation, and maintenance.
- Optimize embedded implementations for CPU throughput, real-time constraints, cache efficiency, memory access, fixed-point arithmetic, memory footprint, power consumption, and algorithm accuracy.
- Lead architecture decisions for OFDM communication systems and evaluate trade-offs involving bandwidth, latency, spectral efficiency, robustness, and platform scalability.
- Serve as the technical authority for DSP and communication systems while mentoring engineers, defining coding and performance standards, providing technical oversight, and conducting design reviews.
- Build and technically lead a future DSP engineering team in India and collaborate with RF, hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams.
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Communications, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in DSP and communication system development.
- Deep expertise in OFDM-based modem design, including synchronization, channel estimation, equalization, and decoding.
- Strong knowledge of digital and analog communication theory.
- Experience optimizing code for MIPS and memory-constrained embedded systems.
- Proficiency with MATLAB and Python and experience transitioning algorithms into embedded or real-time implementations.
- Experience debugging complex cross-domain issues in commercial products and working with or leading geographically distributed teams.
- Preferred qualifications include fixed-point DSP implementation experience, embedded software experience on CPUs, DSPs, or SoCs, RF lab equipment experience, mentoring or leading distributed teams, and end-to-end product development experience.
